Always and Forever Mini Album with Gena

Hi everyone, it's Gena here today and I want to share
a simple album I created with the
Pebbles Valentine line Yours Truly.

Each page simply highlights someone I love!
I used some of my favorite dies on the front of the book... the Tim Holtz Word Play and the rosette die. The wood doily is from Maya Road.
On my girls page I added just a flower a some buttons to add a little girly touch.
On my boys page I added this border with metal brads down the edge... it helps to add a masculine feel.
I hope you will come by The Crafty Scrapper and see the rest of the book and pick up the supplies to make yourself a fun book of those you love!

Have you checked out our classes lately? We have some
awesome classes on the schedule with our fabulous teachers.
What do you want to learn next???

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
See you soon at The Crafty Scrapper!

Sewn With Love layout by Amy

Hi everyone, today we have a project from Amy to share!

When I was given this Bo Bunny Pincushion line for The Crafty Scrapper Design Team I wasn't sure at first what to do with it!  My grandma has always been a seamstress, I have done my share of sewing in my lifetime as well but....the women in my family hate(!) being in front of the camera. Alas, not any vintage photos of my grandma in the sewing room that I can see so clearly in my childhood memories.

But I still felt like this paper needed to pay tribute to my grandma so I set it aside to "percolate" in my brain. I am one of those individuals that will stew on something in the background of my brain and wake up at 2 am knowing what direction I want to go. It didn't take long! Since we had just done family photos in November with the fabulous Sonia Doneghue, I had the perfect photo to incorporate in this layout that paid tribute to my grandma and shows off my beautiful family. And a rare treat of three camera shy women in the photo!

I finally got to play with my Vagabond for the very first time on this project when I wanted flowers that were a little different and showed off some of the other pages of the Pincushion paper. Also here are Maya Road mini spools, twine, vintage trinket flowers, mini ruler, and sewing chipboard pieces. I used Tim Holtz Distress Stains in Brushed Pewter (scissors and safety pin), Peeled Paint (letters), Black Soot (sewing machine), and Antique Bronze (scrolls and gears). The big spool is covered in VerDay Copper Paint.

Here a close up of my favorite part of any project - the layering! Sometimes I have to remind myself to stop so it will fit in the book I need to put it in!

Families are sewn together - with hugs, laughter, tears, and most of all love. Enjoy!

This project is on display at The Crafty Scrapper, you can
see all the details and get a list of supplies used on the layout when you stop in!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Thick and Thin Card Crafting with Tina

Hello, it's Tina, teacher and designer,
here today to share with you  three cards I made with some
fabulous products from The Crafty Scrapper!

Before I show you my cards, I want to give you a little background. I was given a packet of various papers and embellishments. I quickly realized that thick embellishments were going to challenge my card making style. I am one that actually sends my cards in the mail, so I am always conscience of the thickness. But, after looking around for some ideas, I decided it would be fun to make some thicker cards. I just have to know that the thicker ones are going to be the ones that will be hand given not sent.

So, my first card to show you is a thick one, but oh, so pretty! And since I was going thick, I got to use my Tim Holtz Rosette die ... woo hoo. I almost always make a card from either a sketch or CASE (copy and share everything) one that I see that I like.
There were flowers in my packet but I wanted the color to be brighter,so, I changed the color with a Copic!Easy Peasy!

This picture shows how thick the card is. One note, I have seen on blogs where they used a hot glue gun.  I have never used this form of adhesive until today!  I found it worked great to adhere the twine, flower, and rosette to my card!

Adding that rose reminded me of a stamp! (Of course, it did!) So, I used the same papers and supplies to make a second card (a thin one)! See how different one central image can change the cards look!

For my third card, I decided to go with a Valentine theme. The chipboard heart and "always' really sparkles with that red glitzy glitter from Elizabeth Crafts! I wanted to add something to her dress, so I used the Copic Colorless Blender to add the dots!

All supplies can be found or ordered at The Crafty Scrapper.

The cards can be seen in person at the store.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Happy Stamping!

Snow Layout with Ginger

Hello!  It's Ginger here today and
I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!
I am so looking forward to a new beginning and things seem to be looking up!

Don't forget to join in the fun for our Punches and Dies Challenge!
You have until Jan 31, 2014 to add your project to our Facebook album.

I love this layout I created for The Crafty Scrapper Design Team.
This photo is my oldest grandson Logan and my oldest granddaughter Kenzie.  Every year after Christmas we take the grandkids to Tyler, Texas on a little trip.  We normally go to the Tyler area and stay at a resort.  This year we stayed in a cabin by Lake Palestine.  The views were spectacular!

I really loved all the papers from Fancy Pants - Timbergrove Collection.
I thought a long time how to create this layout and then it suddenly came to me.!  I used red cardstock and then Fancy Pants Timbergrove red and white paper which I distressed.  I sewed around the edge to give myself a little border to place the blue paper with the snowflakes.  I then distressed again.  On the flip side I saw this gorgeous silver snowflake paper!  I think it looks yummy!  I used by Martha Stewart Cherish Punch.  I was given white ribbon with the pom poms and then I placed the sparkly blue ribbon in between!

This was rather hard to complete this look!  I had seen this done several months ago and I thought it would look great on this layout.  So, I cut out three strips of paper, added ink to the outside, and rolled them up.  I then added the eyelets, attached the paper and then added string to tie them up!  After I completed the first one the rest was rather easy!  Yea..score one for me!

Here you can see all the layers that I used.  I also used from Kaisercraft the wooden hinges plus I added the little pearls.  The flourish is from Maya Roads which I painted a light blue.  You can see the little snowflakes from Maya Roads and painted them blue but then added stickles plus a blue center.

Look at all the lovely flowers!  These are from Petaloo!  I also added a wooden square plus had a little tag that I painted and wrote "cousins" on it.  I had in my stash this cute little clear round ball and found some clear teardrops as well.

Here is a list of items that I used:

Fancy Pants - Timbergrove Collection - Timbergrove Strips Paper
Fancy Pants - Timbergrove Collection - Powder Paper
Fancy Pants - Timbergrove Collection - Crystals Paper
Bazzill - Red Cardstock
Maya Roads - Snowflakes, Flourishs
Martha Stewart - Cherish Punch
Tim Holtz - Distress Took, Blue Distress Ink
White & Blue Ribbon - TCS
Petaloo - Flowers
White Tear Drop - TCS
Ranger - Glossy Accents
Kaisercraft - Wooden Hinges
Blue Thread

Thank you for taking a peek and please visit The Crafty Scrapper for all you scrapbooking needs.

Best Friends Layout - Crate Paper Love Notes

Good afternoon blogging friends!

It's Anita here today and I want to share a layout I made using
a fabulous new line from Crate Paper- Love Notes.

This line is Valentine themed, but the colors are great for other events
as well, so I used mine for a layout about my DD2 and some friends she
made during her years at summer camp.

I think that this aqua color is going to be the color of the year- which makes
me SUPER happy! I used my Silhouette to cut the circles background and title.

I sprayed by base paper with Rangers Perfect Pearls - Turquoise.
My die cut paper was heat embossed with a thick shiny powder.

The tag, and die cut chipboards are from Crate Paper. Seam binding is
from The Crafty Scrapper. The super shiny little charm in the corner of the pics
is from Maya Road- of course!

The transparency is American Crafts, all the other embellies are from Crate Paper.

To make my plain paper title stand out, I inked the edges, then smeared
the ink around quite a bit. Then I added some faux stitching around
the edges to define the letters.

Have you entered our Punches Challenge yet??

Class Clown by Melissa Hines

For those of you that don't know me, I have been around 'scrapping' for a long time and run the gammut from 12x12, cards, art journals, canvas, ATC, and anything else that involves paper, paint, ink .. bring it on.   For the last couple of years I dabbled in digital and manipulating vintage photos with a quirky spin.   So thankful that Carolyn asked me to come back and be a part of The Crafty Scrapper and so looking forward to what we can create together.

I am new to blogging and writing down the creative steps to glory, so bear with me.
Typically I never have a plan and just spread everything out on the table and
start siftin’ & sortin’ until all of a sudden you look up and see the face of
your new lovely baby.. or creation.. whichever fits.

For this first design effort I was provided with the most awesome stash of supplies from
the Times & Seasons 2 papers & stickers from Echo Park paper company.

Believe me, every piece is AWESOME!  Just LOOK at this vintage goodness -- and think how much printer ink you save by purchasing all this joy!

Run to the store now and add to your stash....

Using these supplies, my favorite Tim Holtz die cuts (Hardware and the clock) & distress inks, Wendi’s embossing paste, Maya Road’s clocks and a vintage group picture by Tumblefish @ DeviantScrap.com… .

If you have not tried Wendi's Embossing Paste, you are MISSING OUT!!!!   Do not let the name or the thought intimdate you - it is smooot like velvet - the black gives the look and feel somewhat of flocked paper.  Two minutes to professional results - you will be addicted.

here is the outcome…
I liked that it sort of appeared like a photo hanging on old Aunt Gilly's wall.. ha!

But wait!!!!   There is more!!!!!

I was having so much fun so I made another using a vintage
photo from Hidden Vintage Studio.

This uses the same sets of papers and stickers from the Times & Seasons 2, Tim Holtz fading dots stencil and Wendi's Silver Embossing paste.  There is alos a Maya Road clcok, Wendi's bar stencil and the target stencil is Crafters Workshop I believe.   The angel wings are from my stash.

Hope you have enjoyed my submissions today and encourage you to think outside the box and jump in to the fun this line has to offier.

Just let me know if you have any questions and as always, I will tell you everything I know
(and try not to make up the rest).

have fun!
Melissa

Winter Banner with Amy

Hi everyone!
Today we have a wonderful project from Amy to share.
She has used the fabulous Bo Bunny Woodland Winter collection
to create this great banner. Here is what she has to say about it;

I awoke on Christmas Eve early (too early), it was way too cold in the house! The whole house was sleeping so I wandered into my scrap room - a rare treat in the holiday season! I started and completed this in one day - Christmas Eve no less - in the middle of a ton of other traditions and obligations that we already had scheduled. It is hanging on my front door now and it brings a smile to my face every time I come home.

The base of this album is 7 gypsies. It's a clear banner album that I covered the back, then layered on pieces of chipboard and the different snowflakes. All the snowflakes are from a Maya Road chipboard keychain.

One of the things I like to do with chipboard is to spray it one color and while it's still wet rub it in a puddle of another color then ink the edges. That's how I got the cool effect on the letters here.

This snowflake is perhaps my favorite, I layered the inked snowflake with Wendy Vecchi silver embossing paste and then put the frame of one of the other snowflakes over it.

Here's the full project. :)
Enjoy and bundle up! It's cold outside!

Thanks for stopping by today!
We will have lots of sneak peeks from CHA on our Facebook page
so be sure to Like us!

Head over Heels Valentine Layout from Gena

I was so excited to receive my first design team assignment for the Crafty Scrapper design team! I rushed home, pulled everything out and NOTHING! The creativity was just NOT there. I bet you have been there. When I need some help to get the creative juices going I use sketches. You can find them on our
Pinterest page, magazines and one of my favorites - PageMaps

Here is the sketch I used:

Here is the finished layout:

I followed the sketch closely on this layout but sometimes I will start and it sparks an idea and I make it my own. I wanted my title to be a little bigger than on the sketch so I pulled out one of my favorite alphabet dies... the Tim Holtz Word Play die... It's a great playful font.

I cut my chipboard and then colored the pieces with a black Copic marker.

Then I added Glossy Accents to the top of the letters. You can also use it on other parts of you page that you want to highlight.

I really like the Head Over Heels collection by Bo Bunny... It's so so easy to put different patterned papers together. You can find this collection at the Crafty Scrapper... Come on down and I will help you put it together!

A New Year- A New Beginning - A New Design Team!

Hello crafty friends and family!
We hope you have a fabulous Christmas and New Year.
We want to start this year off by introducing you to
the 2014 Crafty Scrapper Design Team.
Some of these ladies are familiar to you and a couple are new.
Please make them all feel welcome by hopping by their blogs to say hi!

Amy
My name is Amy Lanford and I live in Irving, Texas.  I have been around crafting my whole life. My grandma is a seamstress and my mom had her own ceramic business that we helped with all through my childhood.  I grew up with a love of crafting and understanding the healing powers of it! I had been very into needlepoint until I found out I was expecting my daughter. At that point arthritis in my hands made hours of holding a small needle impossible! I wanted to find a way to make things for my daughter Emilyann and that's when my love of paper crafting began. When I married my best friend Fred in 2007, he came with our two other kids - Amy and Lee. The magic of crafting gave me a bridge through the world of step parenting. It quickly became something Amy and I enjoyed doing together and it was exploring local crafting shops with her that led me to my favorite store The Crafty Scrapper! This is where the real addiction began and where I transitioned from 12 x 12 layouts into all the other wonderful ways there are to paper craft! In late 2012 I realized I needed to put my art out there as our home was overflowing with all my projects.  While working a full time stressful job and managing our busy home life I started a blog and began taking custom orders for mini albums for friends. It has been so rewarding!  I am so excited to be a member of this year's design team and get to share my art with others! www.scrappygirl0203.blogspot.com

Anita H.

I was raised in the mountains of New Mexico, but I've also lived in El Paso, Morton (West Texas) and San Antonio before settling down in Midland, after my husband, Rick, graduated Law School. We were married right after I graduated collage from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales in 1993, with a degree in Education. I taught elementary school for 10 years, before quitting to help my husband run his businesses, as well as spend more time with our family. We have three crazy, smart, and gorgeous children, who pretty much run our lives, ages 16, 13, and 10.

I've been interested in creating things ever since I can remember. The wonderful and vivid memory of my first box of 48 Crayola Crayons still resonates within me whenever I see a box. Pure euphoria of the box of 96 (With the ultra cool sharpener!) a few years later, was the highlight of my 6th grade year! I took every craft oriented style class I could in Junior High and High School...from Wood Shop to Leather Tooling to Welding. Cooking, baking, and crafting with my talented Mother was a way of life for me, and we participated in Craft Shows from my Junior High years and on. We made and sold so many things for extra income, and I adopted that philosophy all through college as well. I even took in a Jewelry Making class, and sold my wares. If Basket Weaving would have been offered I would have taken it too.

I'm thankful I have the opportunity to pass my love for cooking, baking, and crafting to my daughter, who also likes to create with me.

You can see my work, tutorials, and video tutorials on my blog The Artful Maven Haven at www.artfulmaven.net

Gena
My name is Gena Glover and I have been crafting for 16 years and I love it all! I scrapbook traditional layouts, but also enjoy creating chipboard books. I started with a small card table in my living room and over the years in has grown into a designated room full of scrappy goodness.

I have been a customer of the Crafty Scrapper since Carolyn opened the store, next became a member of the design team and then Carolyn took pity on me and hired me to work part time. Now, I am the manager! I love my job and I treasure her friendship and all the friendships I have made with our customers along the way.

I have been married to my best friend, Kris, for 16 years. We have 4 children... 3 grown and on their own and 1 left at home. Kris also has an older son who is married to a wonderful lady and they have 3 awesome little ones. So I have plenty of scrapping subjects!

I look forward to sharing and creating with you!

Please stop by my blog HandCraftedDreamsByGena to say hi sometime!

 Ginger
I have been scrapbooking for 10 years and I love each and every day that I get to scrap. I have been married for 43 years and my husband Eddie is my best supporter. We have four grown children, two daughters and two sons, and each one is married. I also have four grandchildren, two boys and two girls. They are my greatest source of inspiration. I have studied art for ten years and I find that scrapbooking is a way to express one self. I have used many unconventional methods and I hope each one of you enjoy seeing what I have created.

I was asked to join the Design Team at The Crafty Scrapper which is such an honor. I look forward to seeing comments and hopefully will have the opportunity to meet you. www.gingersnapsandbutterflies.blogspot.com

I am a big fan of The Crafty Scrapper. I never mind driving here from Arlington because it is the best scrapbook store in all of Texas! Believe me; I’ve been to many of them. What a joy it is to see the latest supplies here and think of ways to use them.

My wonderful husband supports and encourages my scrappy "addiction", and so do our two grown children. My family is the joy of my life and the subject of much of my scrapbooking. When I’m not working on layouts of my immediate family, I enjoy going through my mother’s pictures of our ancestors. The stories and pictures that she has shared with me make our family tree come alive.

Officially, I’ve been scrapbooking for about twenty years, but my scrapbooking began while in grade school, and I still have the first album that I made then! New techniques and products are of great interest to me and I consider myself lucky to live during a time when resources for scrapbookers are plentiful and ever-changing. I rely heavily on the training I received at Texas Christian University, where I majored in education and minored in art. The challenge of creating scrapbook art that hopefully will be cherished by generations to come drives me to tell the stories of my family and friends in an interesting and creative way.

You can find more of Patty at http://asassyscrapper.blogspot.com.

Shelley
I live in Mansfield, Texas, just a short drive away from The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. I love it there!

I began scrapbooking around six years ago, and since then I have been thoroughly enjoying the hobby. I love spending time with my family, and then scrapping our photos. I scrap vacations, birthdays, sports, and practically everything else I can get my hands on. I like to try new techniques and use the newest stuff! I like making gifts for my family and friends. I have been married to my wonderful husband, John for 12 years, and we have two children together. Our son, Evan, is 11, and he loves to play sports, and I love photographing him and scrapping those photos in mini albums. Our daughter, Macy, who is 9, likes to play sports, and she also loves to scrapbook--go figure! I also have a son named Blake, who is 22 now, and of course, he has been the subject of many of my projects, as well. Professionally, I teach Statistics full-time at UTA. Overall, I enjoy people, I am crazy about my family and friends, I love to scrapbook, and I am super excited to meet you at The Crafty Scrapper, hopefully in one of my classes!

Sonia
I’m Sonia Doneghue, also known in the crafting and photography world as Ms. Ruin.  Like so many of you, I lead a pretty busy life and I’m blessed to have very few dull moments.  I work full time for a faith-based healthcare system and on my spare time I enjoy community service, creating things, capturing the world around me through my camera’s lens, spending time with friends, traveling with my husband and I’m kind of a gym rat too.

I will be the first person to tell you that traditional scrapbooking is not for me.  In fact, the sight of a 12x12 piece of scrapbook paper sends me running in the opposite direction.  But when I do “scrap”, it’s simple.  I let my photos tell the story and try not to take too much away from the image at hand.  I have a knack for mini albums, canvas art, and other mixed media.  You will see a lot of raw emotion in my work, subjects that might make others uncomfortable, but what fun is your work if you are catering to the comfort of others?  Art is irrepressible, we should be too!  I have a motto in my photography because I love to photograph abandoned places and spaces, and that’s “I find beauty where most see atrophy.”  I think the same can be said with some of my own art.

Learn more about me through my images and words on my blog:  http://ms-ruin.blogspot.com.  You will also find links to my facebook art page, my photography pages, pinterest and much more.

Tina
I have been a rubber stamper and paper crafter for over 17 years. For 14 years, I owned Imprints, a rubber stamp store in Fort Worth, Texas. I closed my store in June 2009. My hubby, Gary, had retired from General Motors a year before I closed my store. To downsize, we moved out to the country and now live on Cedar Creek Lake. Not too long after moving, I found the Crafty Scrapper to be a perfect spot to meet my friends for crafting, fun and fellowship. In 2010, I figured I made more cards (at least 225 of them) than I had in the fourteen years I owned my store. At every crop, I would bring a bunch of cards I had made and that is how the teaching “gig” happened, as several of the ladies really wanted me to teach and I finally said “yes”! And, I am so glad I did. I look forward to sharing my card creations with you.  Happy Stamping!

Anita S

Hi! I'm  Anita Scroggins and I am a rabid scrapbooker! I am so happy to be the DT Coordinator for The Crafty Scrapper this year~!! I love to make layouts and mini-albums, and I dabble in altered projects from time to time. I am a wife, a gardener, a Girl Scout Volunteer and a life long crafter. I keep busy these days redoing my house and yard, designing for several companies and teaching.

I have the best husband ever - as long as there is dinner on the table and the cable bill is paid he doesn't care.  So far he hasn't noticed the 2nd electronic die cutter setting on my counter- I just got a Cameo on the mail last week! So far so good :o)

My style changes  a little here and there, but one thing remains the same - I am not a fan of "less is more". Less is less and more is best, and white space is my enemy.

I would love for you to stop by my blog www.theflamingochronicals.blogspot.com and my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/theflamingochronicals - you can never have too many scrapbook friends, right? I am so blessed to be able to spend my time doing what I love!

WOW! What an amazing team we have!
I am super excited to be working with all of these ladies.
When you are in the store next, be sure to check out the new
projects they have made.

There will be lots of fun things happening here on the blog and on the Facebook page
in the next few weeks, so be sure to stay tuned.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see us today!
See you again soon.
