Happy Halloween

Shelley, here, with a skull for Halloween!!

Here is the plastic skull that I started with...

And, this is how it turned out after using a bunch of Splash of Color products on it!!
I began by using Viva Colour Inka Gold Metallic Rub Base Coat, and letting it dry overnight.  I then used Viva Inka Gold in Silver.  This is a cream that is so fun to use, and the result is just stunning!  You put on the cream, then buff it until it shines!
I then used Silks Acrylic Glaze in Black ice to paint all of the parts on the skull that are black.
I used a white gel pen to make the white markings on the skull.

I used paintable flowers and painted with the Black Ice Silks.  I painted the other flowers with Viva Precious Metal Effects Paint in Turquoise, Blackberry, and Purple.  I used Marah Johnson's Hallow's Eve die cut pieces to adorn the flowers, and I also placed a few pieces of bling on the skull.

Thanks for looking, and have a  s p o o k y  weekend!!

Check out this awesome canvas Amy Lanford did......

Ask me what my favorite Halloween costume my kid has ever had? It would be a toss up between the year she was a flower pot and the year she was a hippie. This canvas I did to display down at The Crafty Scrapper makes me lean towards the hippie! Em being silly on camera is a rare treat, I love that this is now something that I can hang in the house forever!

There were a lot of elements to this canvas. I used Mod Podge to adhere Bo Bunny Kraft paper as the background. Then I got messy with my Dylusions spray inks and stencils to mess up the background. The bottom left half of the canvas is covered in Bo Bunny's Fright Delight paper. I framed the picture using Wendy Vecchi embossing paste (love that stuff!) and blending orange, purple, and black ink over it when it dried. Layered up the Maya Road goodness in the corner and with the trim along the side and it was done!!

Happy Scrappin'!  Amy:)

More Halloween Inspiration

Happy Monday!

After I made my Halloween Box I had all the boxes left that where in the configuration box, so I decided to create this fun funky display.

I took Tim Holtz new Poisonous Stamp, and stamped around the outside and back of the each box. You can also use a variety of background stamps to create a collage look. I used a wood grain stamp to stamp the front edges of the box.

These boxes are really easy to put paper inside with this formula.
Add side + side + width - 1/8inch =
Add side + side + height - 1/8inch =
The boxes are slightly smaller in the bottom, this is why you want to cut down 1/8 on each side. After you have cut your squares, score each side at the 1 1/2 mark or side measurement. Crease each score line and cut out each corner as shown above. Fold paper and slide into each box, easy peasy! Make sure that you attach the wheel to the bottom box before you glue the paper in that box.

I used a Halloween sticker, Maya Road bottles for this box.

I stamped a ticket out, inked a chipboard pumpkin and another bottle.

Using Tim Holtz Alteration die mini spider/31, I cut out a spider, inked and added some bling eyes and glued to the top of the box.

I love using my stamps for embellishments. I stamped out this funky witch from Tim Holtz set Retro and used the distress markers to color her in. Finished her off with a little purple flower.

I glittered the chipboard letters with Tim Holtz new black soot distress glitter and twisted a little piece of Maya Road burlap trim in the back.

This is Fred! To create him, I stamped him out twice from Tim Holtz Retro stamp set and cut him in pieces making sure that they would overlap when put together with brads. Using brads makes Fred mobile so you can move him in all different poses. I then glued his side to the side of the box.

I had fun making this, sometimes you just have to let your imagination go!

Amy Lanford's 3-D Halloween Box

So in October 2013 I took a class down at my fav scrappin' store in Waxahachie (The Crafty Scrapper). The class was taught by the brilliant Angella Peardon. Now I've taken lots of classes, I always learn something, but never has a class changed the way I look at my art! I was handed a Maya Road tabbed album and Bo Bunny's new Fright Delight line and asked to make a project to display in the store. For a nano second I considered doing another mini album. And then by brain started spinning and I though of how to use the same album and make something 3D. This project was one that was so much fun to make!  What do you think?

So I used two of the pages of the album to create the base that I attached the frame and wheels to.  Covers are my favorite part of any project!

I used more of the leftover album chipboard to put a 3D frame around this photo. I covered the frame in more of the Bo Bunny paper and wrapped Maya Road twine around it. The scroll behind the "Spooky" was covered in a wood grain stencil and filled in with my new favorite thing - Wendy Vecchi embossing paste! That stuff is the bomb!

I wanted the picture to take center stage on this page so I paired it with a simple homemade embellie and burlap as a background. The spider web is also from the Bo Bunny paper.

This flower was made with one of the Bo Bunny buttons and Maya Road trim! I love the bats on the button.

More of the embossing paste at play here in the background as well as a little wood grain melted acrylic as a frame for the picture.

Yes, my cat gets a Halloween costume each year. I wish I could say he loves it, but well...you can see what he thinks!

More Mr. Kitty Halloween happiness!

I created a pocket in the background paper to tuck away journaling. I like to have one non-picture page in an album to just replicate the freedom the cover gives you with creativity.

Background is again the embossing paste. Love the Bo Bunny trick or treat embellie! And this is my FAVORITE of her costumes ever - even more than the year she was a flower pot!

This album is on display at The Crafty Scrapper! Happy Scrappin'!

Thanks Amy for sharing!
