Live, Laugh, Love Layout with Melissa

Melissa here with more vintage obsessions.  

Today’s fixation is the vintage photobooth pictures combined with the amazing Tim Holtz die cuts and papers by Authentique and Echo Park.   The pictures along with the  'live laugh love' block from the Echo Park set made me wonder about their lives and from the ones I chose, it looks like they were able to display each value.

 

Everyone knows I love the clock die cut, but the new "Trellis" may just be in the running for the favorite!  I already have a ziplock to hold all the middle inserts because it is way too much fun to mix and match. 

It is a pretty simple layout and the longest part was trying to decide which photos to use (some from my stash and some from my friend the internet and some from my friend Tumblefish Studio).  

No real in depth techniques other than trying to decide which colors of ink ( Peeled Paint, Tea Dye, Stazon and Saffron).   Yes, mentally I sent a note to Wendy Vecchi thanking her for the Saffron Archival ink.  The second time consumer was trying to decide which swirls, stamps, etc -- once all that was done, just glue it all down.   The store has the most amazing selection of backgrounds, swirls, and 'messy' stamps... go have a look and tell them I sent ya ;)

… and doodling, nothing beats the Signo white pen and my most wonderful husband went out in the rain to pick up new pens for me when my last 2 ran out (he was on his way to the post office so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask).   Before adding the squiggle lines (yes, it is a technical term) and the dots, well, the pictures just looked like I was just trying to shove my favorite photo booth picts on a page (which I was, but still wanted it to be visually appealing).   Give it a shot!

My other new fav are the Maya Road wooden accents covered with Distress Stain and then traced with Icicle Stickles.  (I had butterflies, but I think I may need to strip off the trial layers of paint and use for another layout… whoops).  Then I can't tell you how much I played around with arranging the flowers - thought about making some with the papers, but sometimes, the store bought flowers are JUST what is needed.

Independence Day Banner with Amy

Hi everyone in blogland! It is Amy here today to share a project with you.

  What is more awesome than celebrating the red, white, and blue?? I was so excited to open my design team package from The Crafty Scrapper and find this American-as-apple-pie paper from Echo Park and Authentique. I love making holiday banners for my door and my one from last July 4th met with an untimely accident so this was perfect! This also reminds me to be thankful to our soldiers and look forward to those summer days that are surely going to come again!

The background  scalloped pieces are covered with Tim Holtz Distressed Stain (Brushed Pewter).

I constructed the 3D stars out of a Maya Road star key chain and Maya Road spools to give them depth. I then covered the stars with the starburst stencil and Wendy Vecchi silver embossing paste.

I love the bling on these, it makes me think of fireworks in the sky.

The rhinestone stars are also Tim Holtz and the fabulous bling is Want 2 Scrap.

My favorite piece of this banner!! I made these fireworks by stacking Maya Road spools and rolling them in strips of the different paper. I made the fuses for the fireworks out of the stems of flowers I had saved and I just painted them black and curled them around my paper piercer!

Vintage Fun with Melissa

Hi everyone, it's Melissa here today

to share a project with you!

I HAD A BLAST with these papers and was amazed at how 

many of my EXISTING supplies complimented the Authentique line. 

 I was a bit on the fence as to whether or not to pick up the vintage frame die (leaves are a no brainer, they go on EVERYTHING) --- however with the finished project, the picture I used was a bit bigger than the frame - no worries -- I just cut the frame to stick out the sides of the picture as if I was being quirky and meant to have the frame BEHIND the picture !!

  

 I tried and tried and tried to capture the details on this FAB flower -- it turned out SOOO much better than I imagined.   I love Maya Road's Iridescent Pearl spray - it is just the right amount of glimmer to anything.. fabric, paper, you name it!  Then I traced along the edges of Maya's burlap rose with Icicle Stickles ... it seriously transformed the flower  -- grab a look see at the store.   

 

 For the Tim Holtz Leaf die, I used teh fun flower paper, traced the edges with a paint pin and spritzed it with the Iridescent Pearl spray. For the frame, I just used the Authentique solid pink paper, stamped with a handwriting stamp, then rubbed the distress ink around the edges for depth. 

As many of the Waxahachie area people know, our dear friend Shawna Mathis' daughter Avery was in an accident just before Christmas and was in ICU for over a week with severe burns.   She was on my heart so much when I was playing with the Authentique line that my initial project was geared toward her.   I just had to give it to her early so it will not be on display at the store.    I used several of the techniques above but wanted to highlight a few differences

The frame is cereal chipboard with Authentique paper and hand writing stamp.  

The flowers are a crepe paper material and available at the store - adding the infamous Iridescent Spray added SO much!

Try cutting out the individual words of a quote and tracing the paper in one color and outlining the square after they have been adhered...

Golfing Layout with Ginger

Hello!  It is Ginger here today!

I did this layout for the Design Team at The Crafty Scrapper.  This sweet photo is my oldest grandson Logan.  He is now 13 and he was around 3 when this photo was taken.  He is so cute wearing a golf shirt, hat, and carrying a golf club.  I love, love these papers by Authentique Suave Collection.

  These papers looked old and it goes with the photo.  I distressed around the second paper and curled up the corners.  The second paper I cut it out and glued to the the pretty blue paper.  I used by Martha Stewart Deco Fan punch and her circle cutter.  I inked around the circle with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  

I was given the little bird cage, key, and the scallop piece which is from Maya Roads.  I painted each one blue and added Glossy Accents to the key and bird cage.  I added these pretty flowers which I added a center to each one.  I then rolled up strips of paper and glued them down.  I was also given this cute little brown bow tie!!

 On this corner I added a pretty flower and  a pretty center.  I then rolled up more strips of paper and glued them down.  I was given this pretty black flower, bow tie, and by Maya Roads this pretty chipboard button which I painted, added glossy accents, and then thread.

Here you can see the little wire tree which I added another bow tie and more of the rolled up strips of paper.  I was also given this cute banner by Maya Roads which I painted and added glossy accents.  I found these letters and then used a fine tip black marker to go around each one.

3-D Party Box from Amy

Good morning,, it's Amy here today to share a fun 3-D project with you!
 
This project celebrates my daughter's birth-day! I am so blessed to have given birth to such a beautiful, mischievous, smart, and funny creature!  I can't possibly tell her often enough how much she makes me smile and how proud I am of her. She turned 12 in December and I still can't believe how quickly the years are flying by. I know I am going to blink and she'll be going away to college and projects like this - where I dig out the collection of growing up pictures - gave me the moment I needed to slow down and remember all the ways I love her so.

I had a lot of fun with this Authentique Wishes Collection paper. I knew I wanted to do something out of the ordinary and when I saw Maya Roads banner album hanging on the shelf at The Crafty Scrapper all I saw was a party hat! And of course my "how can I make it 3D" brain then kicked in shortly after. The result? See for yourself!

I cut blank chipboard the width of the banner pieces and adhered together with masking tape with a small gap between the pieces to allow it to bend. I did this twice, gluing together the two squares once covered and inked to create the "box". I chose to only layer up one of the four out facing sides to make it clear where the front was when you untied the top to take a peek inside....

This is the center of the open box - and of course my favorite picture of my all grown up girl! I cut out one of the sayings on the Wishes paper and adhered to chipboard for a raised effect. I also trimmed it in Maya Road zipper trim. Featured on this page is Prima pearls and flowers, Paper Blooms from Kaisercraft, and Tim Holtz metal.

I covered a Maya Road paper doily in Tim Holtz Distress Glitter (Broken China Blue), and layered up more of the stickers from the Wishes collection.



Maya Road numbers and Prima pearls take center stage here with the birth date. It was a Happy Day!

Little Farmer Layout with Ginger

Hello everyone, it's Ginger here today!

I love this sweet little photo of my youngest grandson Colby.  He loves all kinds of animals and our son allows the kids to see and touch them all.  This was at his birthday party and he had a little zoo of animals to show up.  He was in heaven!

I love being on the Design Team at The Crafty Scrapper and this time they gave me such wonderful papers to create this layout.  They are from Echo Park, Simple Stores, and Authentique.  Each paper worked perfectly with the look I was after!  This layout did take me all day to create.  However, I do like how it turned out.  I cut out the green paper and added Martha Stewart punch and then distressed the other side.  I then attached it with eyelets and added string.  

I used so many papers on this project.  You can see the eyelets and string plus the stripe paper I used by Martha Stewart a punch which I inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  I made a flower from Tim Holtz and added a button with string.  I used by Prima and Petaloo the flowers.

On one of the papers it had this cute monkey so I cut it out to hang on the the paper.  I also used by Martha Stewart a punch to the outside of the paper.  I curled the paper up on this side of the layout.

You can see the other eyelets and string plus the letters that I chose but it to make them stand out better I used a fine point marker to outline.  I also used from Tim Holtz the smaller flower and I had in my stash this cute little goat button!  From Maya Roads I was given the little bird, round circle and the flourish which I painted and added design with the fine point marker.  You can see I used two papers and distressed each one around the photo.  I also used cheesecloth behind the flowers and buttons.

Thick and Thin Card Crafting with Tina

Hello, it's Tina, teacher and designer, 

here today to share with you  three cards I made with some 

fabulous products from The Crafty Scrapper!

Before I show you my cards, I want to give you a little background. I was given a packet of various papers and embellishments. I quickly realized that thick embellishments were going to challenge my card making style. I am one that actually sends my cards in the mail, so I am always conscience of the thickness. But, after looking around for some ideas, I decided it would be fun to make some thicker cards. I just have to know that the thicker ones are going to be the ones that will be hand given not sent.

So, my first card to show you is a thick one, but oh, so pretty! And since I was going thick, I got to use my Tim Holtz Rosette die ... woo hoo. I almost always make a card from either a sketch or CASE (copy and share everything) one that I see that I like. 

There were flowers in my packet but I wanted the color to be brighter,so, I changed the color with a Copic!Easy Peasy!

This picture shows how thick the card is. One note, I have seen on blogs where they used a hot glue gun.  I have never used this form of adhesive until today!  I found it worked great to adhere the twine, flower, and rosette to my card!

 Adding that rose reminded me of a stamp! (Of course, it did!) So, I used the same papers and supplies to make a second card (a thin one)! See how different one central image can change the cards look! 

For my third card, I decided to go with a Valentine theme.The chipboard heart and "always' really sparkles with that red glitzy glitter from Elizabeth Crafts! I wanted to add something to her dress, so I used the Copic Colorless Blender to add the dots!
