Upcoming Classes

Hi everyone! Did you have a scrappy weekend
to celebrate National Scrapbook Day??

I hope you got some great projects done.

We have some awesome classes coming up,,
have you signed up yet? Be sure to get in before they are all full!

Spread Your Numbered Wings and Fly Canvas - Anita Houston
Friday   May 9, 2014  5:30- 9:30pm    $45
Using the Techniques: Number/Letter Pictures; Stamping with Paint;  Paint Resist with Dylusions
It's always interesting to take numbers or letters and make pictures out of them, but instead of doodling them out on a memo pad while talking on the phone, you can create a piece of Art to cherish for years to come using those same doodles. In this class, you will create a whimsical and fun piece of Art that has so much character. You will use paint and ink sprays on a 9x12 inch wood panel canvas, which adds to the interest as you can see the grain of the wood, giving the piece a textural quality like nothing else. Students Will Need: Scissors *Note: You will be using Dylusions Ink Sprays, so you might want to wear an apron.

Industrial Chic ATC Storage Box - Anita Houston
Saturday   May 10, 2014   10am- 2pm   $50  (Bring your lunch)

Using the Techniques: Cracking, Altered Metal, Metal Foliage.
It's so nice to have decor around the house that you've actually made and that is functional! In this class you will make an Artist Trading Block, which is all the craze, that is beautiful and useful to store candy, trinkets, whatever. You will get your hands dirty making an elegant piece to cherish and display, as well as stash a few goodies.  What You Need To Bring: You will not need anything, but it you choose you may bring an apron, scissors, liquid adhesive of your choice.

Botanical Beauty - Gena Glover
Saturday   May 10   10:30- 1:30   $39

Come and join me to create this beautiful keepsake box using the Graphic 45 Botanical Tea paper collection. We will also use the new Wendy Vecchi crackle paste to create beautiful texture on our boxes. This would make a great Mother's Day gift!
Please bring to class: basic class kit, brown ink to distress edges, craft mat

Vintage Photo Book  - Anita Scroggins
Saturday   May 10, 2014   2:30 - 5:30pm  $42
Come join me in making this fabulous vintage inspired photo album. We will use mixed media techniques alter the book cover- painting, spraying, adding texture- lots of techniques to get this wonderful effect. We will be using Prima's new line of paper and embellishments- they are a beautiful vintage floral. A Maya Road chipboard album is our base and we are adding lots of Maya Road goodies to the book as well.  This little photo book would be a wonderful gift for Mother's Day, a Bride to be, or a sweet little girl in your life- or just keep it for yourself to shoe off your favorite photos!
You will need: Craft Mat, Heat Gun, Crop-a-Dile, Paper Piercer, Border punch, corner rounder,  paper cutter, paper and craft scissors, wet glue for paper (Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive is my favorite) , Beacon 3 -n 1 or something similar for ribbon,  dry adhesive like a tape runner, sander, paper distresser, pencil, and a black journal pen.

Custom Colored Seam Binding

Hey guys! It's Gena and I just wanted to share a quick and easy technique that I LOVE to use with seam binding.

I'm sure you all know what an AMAZING selection of colors we have at The Crafty Scrapper, but just in case you haven't seen lately... look at the yummy colors!

There are times that you may not have the color you need or you need your ribbon to match one of Tim's distress inks you are using... let me show you a little trick! You will need a spray water bottle, ink and your craft mat.  To begin tap your ink pad on your craft mat and then spritz with water.

Run the ribbon thur the ink... repeat until you get the desired color!

Dry with a heat gun and BOOM you have your own custom ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Puppy Love with Gena

Hello everyone! It's Gena and I wanted to share a sweet layout I made of my baby girl Daisy! Isn't she beautiful?

I used the new pet line from BoBunny, Happy Tails. As most of you know, I love sketches, so I found one that I liked and started to create.

I used the paper to create individual embellishments. One of the tags even has her name already printed on there, but there are also plenty of blank ones that you could stamp your fur-baby's name on there.

I also used my border punched to add a little flair.

Don't forget- you have a few days left to enter our March Challenge
using Mists and Paints!
Here is a look at the March  Challenge Prize
a 12x12 paper pack, lots of goodies from American Crafts, a lg die, some
Amy Tangerine accessories and more!
Be sure to link up your entry before March 31st to be eligible to win!!

Thanks for stopping by... hope to see you soon at The Crafty Scrapper!

Timeless Beauty Layout by Gena

Hello friends! It's Gena here with a layout to share with you. I believe this is going to be one of my  favorite layouts I have created. I LOVE the subject matter, my sweet granddaughter, Autumn, but it is really just the sweet simplicity of it all that makes me smile.
I used the Authentique Classique: Elegant paper collection. I used pearl bling and the beautiful mini sparkle and shine resin flowers by Maya Road. I am also in love with my punch borders!
The simple Antique pearl center flower by Maya Road was just the right touch on top of the lace paper doily.
For the title I used my Maya Road letters, painted them black and added glossy accents.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you soon at the Crafty Scrapper!! Gena

Always and Forever Mini Album with Gena

Hi everyone, it's Gena here today and I want to share
a simple album I created with the
Pebbles Valentine line Yours Truly.

Each page simply highlights someone I love!
I used some of my favorite dies on the front of the book... the Tim Holtz Word Play and the rosette die. The wood doily is from Maya Road.
On my girls page I added just a flower a some buttons to add a little girly touch.
On my boys page I added this border with metal brads down the edge... it helps to add a masculine feel.
I hope you will come by The Crafty Scrapper and see the rest of the book and pick up the supplies to make yourself a fun book of those you love!

Have you checked out our classes lately? We have some
awesome classes on the schedule with our fabulous teachers.
What do you want to learn next???

So Many Fun Projects!

The store received it's shipment of Jillibean Soup Papers today. The design team has been working on some samples using the lines already.

Take a look at this great layout Gena did using the New England Chowder papers. Don' you love the way the paper is used? Gives a real movement, yet uses very straight lines. Very cool.

Isla took several of the papers from Chicken Noodle Soup, Old World Cabbage Stew as well as some coordinating papers from other paper lines and made this VERY cute Recipe book.

Cute little clips hold the recipes in place, next to photos of the actual food.

The way she used other pieces such as Maya Road cupcake coasters and Crafty Secrets stamps really works well.

Of course, these are on display at the store and look SOOO much better in real life than with my photographs.

Super Fun Layouts!

Gena has done such a great job on these layouts. I love the way she has focused our eyes on the photos in each. They tell a story even without the words. The words provide an additional piece of the story though.

Strips of paper are so sharp looking on the page. A great way to use just a smidge of favorite papers or perhaps to use up some scraps.

Don't you love the layered circle on this layout? Thanks for doing these for us Gena!
