Summer Time Banner with Amy

Hi y'all, it's Amy and today I have a taste of summer to share with you.

Few things in life make me happier than a new paper line from Bo Bunny. Gena down at The Crafty Scrapper has the power to make me smile just by sending me a teaser text that there might be new Bo Bunny afoot in the store. This line, Lemonade Stand, was no exception. The bright colors and the summertime message can't help but make you think of longer days, time with kids, and traveling.
I wanted to do a banner and I wanted the 3D effect I love so much. My solution with this Maya Road skinny banner was to use Maya Road scallops, glued together and paper covered, to connect the banner pieces and raise up the non-scalloped pages. It had the bonus effect of giving me one solid piece cause banners that get all twisted up drive me a little nutty.

Nothing is complete without a pile of flowers. Here the Prima flowers and Bo Bunny Lemonade Stand embellies make a perfect compliment.

I will admit it, I had to turn to YouTube to figure out how to make an actual pinwheel. here I double layered the pinwheel to make it stand out and used it to highlight the "Catching Some Rays" sticker I pulled from the Bo Bunny sticker sheet.

All my favorite things about summer! Swimming, ice cream, and BBQ's with the family. Again, just love how all the bright happy colors came together.

Summer, summer, and more summer! I am usually challenged with banners to have a "centerpiece" with each panel. On this one I went a little crazy and just put together all the parts I liked and let it come together as the center. Here again I worked the flowers and premade brads together and the pink flower is die cut acrylic that has been stamped and painted.

Whatever summer means to you, I hope that this paper line and banner bring a smile to your face. Check out The Crafty Scrapper for all you need to capture your summertime!

Happy scrappin' y'all!

Leaky Shed Studio with Sonia

Hello crafty friends --Sonia Doneghue here for The Crafty Scrapper!  I'm really excited to share this project with all of you as I had an opportunity to fuse my love of paper crafting with my love of urban and not so urban exploration.  You see, when I'm not painting chipboard I enjoy exploring abandoned places and spaces and capturing images to share with others.  My motto is that "I find beauty where most see atrophy."  I hope you are able to see the beauty too.

This lovely chipboard album is by the fine folks at Leaky Shed Studio and can be purchased at The Crafty Scrapper.  Fortunately, my album is shaped like a camera.  I also want to mention that all of the gorgeous paper I used in this album is from the "Accomplished" line of papers by Authentique.  You can find this paper right by the checkout!  A little bit about the cover which is typically my most embellished part of the book...I wanted to create a contrast between something beautiful and something, well, a bit on the mucky side because that's definitely what this book is about.  I chose a soft damask print for the background and then a bold brick print for the accent pieces of the camera.  All of the paper embellishments including the alphabet are by Tim Holtz and the flowers are by Prima.

Lets look at a couple of pages on the inside...

I really liked the way this turned out.  I'm not gonna lie, I was so frustrated with this page that I wanted to put the pictures sides by side, glue the Maya Road light bulb in the middle and call it a day.  But I walked away, got some sleep, and in the morning I churned this out with ease.

The photo on the left flips open so that you can see the entire picture on the right and you can also read some details about these photos.  And just in case you can't see the print, these photos were taken in the ghost town of Medicine Mound, Texas which is located between Amarillo and Dallas.  We found the structural remains of a filling station and some really neat relics including the gas pump.  We continued down the road and drove through a field (remember, not so urban exploration) and found a very old grade school.  You can see that edifice on the cover of the book.  I don't think class will ever be in session again.  Or will it?

I'd like to share just one more page with all of you because I used a really neat technique that you will want to try on your next project.  Hold off on the coffee, you're going to need a steady hand for this.

For this page I took a Maya Road linen heart and laid a stencil over it and then gently applied a thick coat of Wendy Vecchi's Embossing Paste in white.  I promise, once you do this you will want to do it over and over...just imagine the possibilities.  I also stenciled some beautiful black birds on other linen hearts for a different project.  About the photo:  The gorgeous statue on this page was found in an overgrown cemetery in South Texas.  I doubt that old place has many visitors, but I have a hunch that this statue restores hope for the disregarded.

If you would like to see the entire book and read some insight behind the photos, please stop by my blog, Ms. Ruin's Playthings, for all of the details.  You can also see the book on display at The Crafty Scrapper.

Until next time...take flight!

Oceans of Fun layout with Anita S

Howdy blogging friends!
How is the weather where you are?? Isn't it super freaky this year?
I have a friend in Colorado that got snow yesterday! It has been raining
here for days and the temp is down to the low 60s today. Not that I am complaining!

Today I have a new layout to share
using some really cute new Echo Park Papers!!
How cute is this new paper!!! It is Summer Adventures from Echo Park- be sure to get yours before it is all gone! If you are not near the store, remember- they ship!

I used a stencil and Molding Past to add some texture to my background. The flowers are Vintage Prima and the chipboards are Blue Fern Studios.

I used my Cameo to make my layered title using Bazzill cardstocks.
Do you have a Cameo and want to learn more ways to use it? I will be teaching a series of classes
on how to use your Cameo starting in June/July.
The journal card is also from the same paper line, and I used torn strips from the line to make a layered mat for my photo and inked them with Powder Puff ink from Quick Quotes.
The word art here is trimmed from one of the Journal Cards, and I added a little bit of bling down each edge to make it pop. In the upper corner I used a square chippie from MME to accent- I cut it in half so it would fit where I wanted it. These are also available at the store.

Adorable Layout with Patty

Hi everyone! It's Patty again with a layout for the Crafty Scrapper. The photo is of my daughter when she was 15 and her little cousin.

It was a treat to use Studio Calico papers, American Crafts chipboard embellishments, Prima flowers The Crafter's Workshop, Heidi Swap Color Shine and May Arts ribbon.

On this layout I masked, stitched, painted, inked and did some 3-D work. You can see the modeling paste and the wonderful texture this fun technique created.

Thanks for taking a peek at this layout. I hope to see you at The Crafty Scrapper!

May Blog Challenge- USE LAYERS!

Hi to all my friends in blogland!
It's Anita S here today I have a new layout to share for
The Crafty Scrapper's May Blog Challenge

This month the challenge is to
USE LAYERS
You can interpret that anyway you want and remember,
any project is eligible to enter- it doesn't have to be a layout!

Here is a look at my layout
This is my Sweet Baby Jade at 11 months old! She was so cute back then!
I have used Carta Bella papers and chipboard to build my layers.
I wanted to use this cute polka dot paper to match her swimsuit, but I didn't want a huge piece of it. I cut one strip to show the dots and added it across the page from the photo. I added machine stitching along the edges. The punch used here is from Fiskars and I added some faux stitching with my PITT® Artist Pen from Faber-Castell®.

Here's how I made the fabulous chipboard mat for my photo;
I mapped out where I wanted my photo to go, then I arranged chipboard pieces around the outer edge until I was happy with the way they looked.
Once everything was glued down, I put two thin coats of gesso over the whole thing and spread it out around the area onto the page as well. Let dry completely.
Add you color how ever you want- I used some pink Glitter Glam from Heidi Swapp- I just painted a heavy coat over the whole area; let dry completely.
When everything was dry I splattered some pink paint over the whole layout. I used my Stamper's Big Brush Pen in White to add accents around the outer edge of the chipboards and added some pearls from Queen and Co.
Here is a closer look. The Chipboard title is from Blue Fern Studios and I heat embossed with Raspberry Tart from Sparkle N Sprinkle.
To add another layer at the bottom, I cut my paper and punched the cut edges, folding them back. I added a doiley that I have had for YEARS underneath, some brads, buttons and flowers.
Flowers are Prima, buttons are from Imaginisce.

The hearts on the side were made using a Wendy Vecchi stencil and embossing paste. When it was dry I used two colors of Gelatos® to color them.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
You have until May 31st to link up your project below.

Vintage Love with Amy

Hi y'all! Today I have a project to show you that I adore.

One because it has my favorite thing in it - flowers!
Second because it has two of my favorite people in the world in it - my grandparents.

My grandparents more or less raised me. I lived with them and my mom when I was little. During the formative years of my life where I copied my mother and called my grandma "Mom". That stuck for all three of us grandkids and now my kids call her the same. Appropriate enough since she was such a strong influence on me. PawPaw is the only father figure I have ever known. It is a rare treat to get such a great picture of them as is featured here, but Sonia knows her stuff!

I love anything Prima and this vintage frame is no exception. I used Crate Paper's Style Board line to line the inside edge of the frame and the back. From there I just let the layering begin!

I used Primas' Something Blue flower line and inked up the edges to go along with the frame. As with almost all of my projects, Maya Road pins finish off this flower grouping along with Want 2 Scrap pearl bling.

I hope you enjoy the finished product as much as I will for years to come.
Remember, all of this goodness is available down at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie.

Happy scrappin'!
Amy

New Echo Park with Ginger

Hello Everyone - Ginger here today to show you my new layout.
This is a photo of my sweet granddaughter Kenzie playing soccer this year.  She is just 5 years old and having a great time.  At this age they are all so cute!! The papers are by Echo Park and they go perfectly with the color of her team!

I distressed the edges and turned the corners inward. I did the same thing with the orange paper to give it a sense of balance.    On the back of one of the papers was soccer ball print.    I cut it out into a circle which gave me a nice soccer ball.

Here I used various flowers from Petaloo and Prima.  I found in my stash this ribbon and used it to gather the flowers.  The three little buds I made by just rolling up paper.  Can't get easier than that!!

Again I rolled up paper to make these little buds and added leaves.    You can also see I used black, orange, and then the soccer ball which I used my Tim Holtz page edger.    I also had this wooden hinge and painted it black and added little pearls.

The word soccer I painted black and while it was still wet I added little black beads.  I was given the little circle with the star but decided to use them separately.  I added the button with the heart to the circle and painted the star yellow and added my granddaughters name...Kenzie!

I did a lot of distressing on the papers.  I also added by Martha Stewart a punch to the soccer paper and added ink. I also used two papers around the photos and distressed them as well.

Thank you again for taking a peek and please visit The Crafty Scrapper!

Hugs – Ginger

Using Mists/Paints- March Challenge

Are you ready for a new challenge??

It is time for The Crafty Scrapper March Challenge!
This month we are all about using those Mists and Paints-
you know you have 'em! I have DRAWERS full of them.
Seriously.

So let's break out the mists and paints and get to work!
Here is the project I made for this month's challenge
I used new Anchored papers by Authentique for this layout.
To get the look from my mists, I positioned my mask and sprayed, then picked
the mask up and flipped it over on the other side of the paper. This gives me two
patterns from the same mask ;o)
I love this Maya Road ribbon- it was perfect for this layout!
Some Prima Flowers and bling from Want2Scrap. The title was cut using my
Silhouette Cameo and Bazzill cardstock.
Here you can see the two patterns from the mask; the left side got sprayed
and the right side is where I flipped the mask over.

So what are you waiting on??
Get to misting or painting!!

This months winner will receive a fabulous prize pack of
American Crafts Goodies!

You have until March 31st to link up your project below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Bo Bunny Mini Album with Anita

Good morning everyone!

Today I have a super cute little album made with new papers from Bo Bunny
and a Maya Road chipboard album.
Lots of Maya Road goodness going on here on the cover-
the chipboard album itself, alphas, birdcage, wood heart, hexagons,
and chippie butterfly are all from Maya Road.
I have used a variety of embossing powders on the hexagons
to add depth and texture.
The papers are new Bo Bunny Primrose and they are just as cute as they can be!!
The words here and the chipboard "mats" that I used for all my photos
are all from Maya Road.
A little bling from Want2Scrap, a little vintage Prima, and a
swirly chipboard from Maya Road on these pages.
On these pages I fussy cut the flowers, frames, butterflies, and leaves from
the sheets of patterned paper, and layered them together to create
these decorations.
The back of the album has a journal tag and a fussy cut butterfly layered on.
I left little spaces through out the album to write a few words.
Instead of paint I used my Tsukineko VersaMagic Ink Pads to color the larger
chipboard pieces of the album- faster and less messy than paint~!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Be sure to stop by the store and pick up some
of this fabulous Bo Bunny Primrose paper
for yourself!
