Oceans of Fun layout with Anita S

Howdy blogging friends!
How is the weather where you are?? Isn't it super freaky this year?
I have a friend in Colorado that got snow yesterday! It has been raining
here for days and the temp is down to the low 60s today. Not that I am complaining!

Today I have a new layout to share
using some really cute new Echo Park Papers!!
How cute is this new paper!!! It is Summer Adventures from Echo Park- be sure to get yours before it is all gone! If you are not near the store, remember- they ship!

I used a stencil and Molding Past to add some texture to my background. The flowers are Vintage Prima and the chipboards are Blue Fern Studios.

I used my Cameo to make my layered title using Bazzill cardstocks.
Do you have a Cameo and want to learn more ways to use it? I will be teaching a series of classes
on how to use your Cameo starting in June/July.
The journal card is also from the same paper line, and I used torn strips from the line to make a layered mat for my photo and inked them with Powder Puff ink from Quick Quotes.
The word art here is trimmed from one of the Journal Cards, and I added a little bit of bling down each edge to make it pop. In the upper corner I used a square chippie from MME to accent- I cut it in half so it would fit where I wanted it. These are also available at the store.

Upcoming Classes

Hi everyone! Did you have a scrappy weekend
to celebrate National Scrapbook Day??

I hope you got some great projects done.

We have some awesome classes coming up,,
have you signed up yet? Be sure to get in before they are all full!

Spread Your Numbered Wings and Fly Canvas - Anita Houston
Friday   May 9, 2014  5:30- 9:30pm    $45
Using the Techniques: Number/Letter Pictures; Stamping with Paint;  Paint Resist with Dylusions
It's always interesting to take numbers or letters and make pictures out of them, but instead of doodling them out on a memo pad while talking on the phone, you can create a piece of Art to cherish for years to come using those same doodles. In this class, you will create a whimsical and fun piece of Art that has so much character. You will use paint and ink sprays on a 9x12 inch wood panel canvas, which adds to the interest as you can see the grain of the wood, giving the piece a textural quality like nothing else. Students Will Need: Scissors *Note: You will be using Dylusions Ink Sprays, so you might want to wear an apron.

Industrial Chic ATC Storage Box - Anita Houston
Saturday   May 10, 2014   10am- 2pm   $50  (Bring your lunch)

Using the Techniques: Cracking, Altered Metal, Metal Foliage.
It's so nice to have decor around the house that you've actually made and that is functional! In this class you will make an Artist Trading Block, which is all the craze, that is beautiful and useful to store candy, trinkets, whatever. You will get your hands dirty making an elegant piece to cherish and display, as well as stash a few goodies.  What You Need To Bring: You will not need anything, but it you choose you may bring an apron, scissors, liquid adhesive of your choice.

Botanical Beauty - Gena Glover
Saturday   May 10   10:30- 1:30   $39

Come and join me to create this beautiful keepsake box using the Graphic 45 Botanical Tea paper collection. We will also use the new Wendy Vecchi crackle paste to create beautiful texture on our boxes. This would make a great Mother's Day gift!
Please bring to class: basic class kit, brown ink to distress edges, craft mat

Vintage Photo Book  - Anita Scroggins
Saturday   May 10, 2014   2:30 - 5:30pm  $42
Come join me in making this fabulous vintage inspired photo album. We will use mixed media techniques alter the book cover- painting, spraying, adding texture- lots of techniques to get this wonderful effect. We will be using Prima's new line of paper and embellishments- they are a beautiful vintage floral. A Maya Road chipboard album is our base and we are adding lots of Maya Road goodies to the book as well.  This little photo book would be a wonderful gift for Mother's Day, a Bride to be, or a sweet little girl in your life- or just keep it for yourself to shoe off your favorite photos!
You will need: Craft Mat, Heat Gun, Crop-a-Dile, Paper Piercer, Border punch, corner rounder,  paper cutter, paper and craft scissors, wet glue for paper (Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive is my favorite) , Beacon 3 -n 1 or something similar for ribbon,  dry adhesive like a tape runner, sander, paper distresser, pencil, and a black journal pen.

Design Team Challenge- Anita S

Howdy everyone,, are you ready for the Birthday Bash?
Have your bought your ticket yet?
There are still a few left- so hurry!

We are having a Design Team Challenge here at The Crafty Scrapper - everyone was given the same bag of supplies and had to create a project with it. I am so amazed at how talented these ladies are and the beautiful projects they turned it!! We will be featuring one of the DT members and their projects everyday from now until the Birthday Bash on April 12th. So be sure to come back and see them all!!

Here is a look at my project,,
I started with a piece I have had laying around the studio for some time- a fake decorative book.
All the pieces of chipboard that you see surrounding the flower were included in the challenge kit. I knew right away that I wanted to make a flower out of them. I simply bent them in shape, painted white, then sprayed with Ranger Perfect Pearls and Dylusions sprays. I used hot glue to hold everything in place.
Of course the chipboard pieces are from May Road, as are the buttons, pearl chain, ribbons and tickets.
My center flower I picked up at the craft supply. I added the dragonfly, and pearls from the kit as well.
I added in some flowers and a paper doily from my stash.
I sprayed the chipboard with Dylusions and added accents with my white pen.
I love how the title came out- I added a glass slide under one of the words for some dimension.
I have had these flowers hanging around the studio since I bought them at convention I don't know how many years ago! I thought they were perfect for this project!
I painted each flower with Sparkle Modge Podge- who doesn't love that stuff!
The gold tulle is from my stash as well.
Be sure to stop by The Crafty Scrapper Blog everyday leading up to our
big Birthday Bash on April 12th- We will be featuring a project from one of our designers every day!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Have a great week!!

Spring has sprung here in Dallas and I am super happy about it!

I have used new MME papers - love them! I don't normally use black on a layout, so this is pretty unusual for me!
I used one of the matching chipboard frames.  I also added Prima Flowers, May Arts ribbon, and Maya Road Pins.
My chippie here is from Blue Fern Studios.
The hexagon background piece I cut using my Cameo.
I added more Prima flowers and some buttons from my stash in the upper corner.

Using Mists/Paints- March Challenge

Are you ready for a new challenge??

It is time for The Crafty Scrapper March Challenge!
This month we are all about using those Mists and Paints-
you know you have 'em! I have DRAWERS full of them.
Seriously.

So let's break out the mists and paints and get to work!
Here is the project I made for this month's challenge
I used new Anchored papers by Authentique for this layout.
To get the look from my mists, I positioned my mask and sprayed, then picked
the mask up and flipped it over on the other side of the paper. This gives me two
patterns from the same mask ;o)
I love this Maya Road ribbon- it was perfect for this layout!
Some Prima Flowers and bling from Want2Scrap. The title was cut using my
Silhouette Cameo and Bazzill cardstock.
Here you can see the two patterns from the mask; the left side got sprayed
and the right side is where I flipped the mask over.

So what are you waiting on??
Get to misting or painting!!

This months winner will receive a fabulous prize pack of
American Crafts Goodies!

You have until March 31st to link up your project below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
