Waxahachie has been home to many movies. It's always fun and interesting to watch them film. The last couple of weeks they have been filming a movie, mainly at the Rogers Hotel down at the square. They have turned the hotel into The Beacon apartments, the film is starting Teri Polo from Meet The Parents, David Rees Snell, Michael Urie, & Michael Ironside. The buzz around town yesterday was that they were going to do a stunt were a man would be falling out the 4th store window of the hotel. So most of us went to go watch, they put fake glass up , painted window panes and added a mini blind. We all sat and waited. As we were waiting I got a chance to talk with one of the producers, it was very interesting to learn more about the industry and how it worked. They have all been very accommodating to us and a pleasure to have in our town. We will definitely have to go see this movie when it comes out. Here is a summary of the movie and a few pictures of the action yesterday, note the new sign that was made to cover up the Rogers sign.
THE BEACON: The movie centers on Bryn (Polo), a thirtysomething woman grieving over the loss of her 4-year-old son. Along with her college professor and author husband (Snell), Bryn moves into the charming old Beacon Apartments. There, she begins to see a boy who died in a fall down the Beacon's elevator shaft while trying to escape his abusive father. With the help of an eccentric young professor (Urie), Bryn tries to save the boy's spirit. Ironside plays a tough career cop who has adopted the residents.
