What a Fun Festive Day at the Store.....

Today was crazy busy with 3 classes and a make-n-take. We started off the day with long a waited snowglobe class.....Lisa and Trisha out did themselves on this one, and the class was so easy to follow, at one point I had to go do make-n-takes and I came back to find that the elves had built my house.....

Cheryl is one of my best buds and I LOVE to spend time with her. She had called the minute I posted this class and couldn't wait to come down. I promise we both behaved in class and followed directions.......

Here is my finished snowglobe..............

On the other side we have Ann-Denise from Paper Cowgirls teaching her Nutcracker Suite Christmas Paper Medallions. Her beautiful daughter came to assist her.........
I have heard that Ann-Denise is a fantastic cook, and it looks like her students had a special little treat............

I loved her presentation, if anyone knows me they know I believe its all in the presentation. Each student received their kit in this adorable package..............

They had tons of goodies to embellish their medallions....................

All of us in the snowglobe came over to view the finished medallions, I love how they all are different and full of each persons personality. We all loved them so much we bought the extra kits...............

I am so sorry I didn't get any pictures of Dee Dee's class, they were making an beautiful acrylic Christmas Album. She had a full class creating away when I left the store! If you could not attend any of the classes, we have a couple of each of the class kits at the store for sell.

Recipe Holder

Hi Everyone! I wanted to share a project I created. It was inspired by the recipe album Katie Watson taught at the Artistic Journey. You will also see bits and pieces of inspiration from Lisa Pace... pearls here and there... and Aubrey Rives... doodling on the details. I learned so much that weekend! All the paper is from the Little Yellow Bicycle Savor Collection and the chipboard accents are from Maya Road. If you have any questions... just let me know!

Blogging VS. Facebook

Wow I have totally neglected my blog! I feel like FB has taken over, don't you? I find more people read our fan page, its easier and faster. But there are some people that have felt like I have neglected them by not posting on my blog. I didn't realize that there were quite a few people that do not do FB. So I am apologizing to you, my loyal blog readers and promise to not let you down. I have many things to share, exciting things that have happened, things coming and some really exciting things happening in 2011. So I will start with our BIGGEST event yet.......

Friends from all over the Untied States come together!

It was beautiful weather all weekend. The girls walked from the store to the Historic Rogers Hotel where Katie Watson's class was.

It was hard to get a good picture of our Artistic Journey window display. I thought this was one of the highlights of the event..thanks to Caroline! We asked each attendee to make a tag and journal about their artistic journey. Then sent them in before the event, and what surprise for them when they came Friday night.

We started off the evening and event with a fun make-n-take. Each teacher, Lisa Pace, Katie Watson, Aubrey Rives and our guest Cheryl Darrow from Ten Second Studios each had a page in this adorable 5x5 binder w/envelopes from Maya Roads. Caroline and I did the cover and Annette had a station showing how to ink and stamp the envelopes.

Lisa getting ready for her Make-n-take.

Each attendee received this bag of goodies, and we packed it full of stuff.

It was a weekend full of amazing food. Friday night we catered from My Sisters Affair. Saturday lunch was from my dear friend Heidi, the best kept secret in Waxahachie. Her presentation amazed the girls, when unwrapping these adorable berry baskets your cloth was your placemat, how cute is that! We finished off the weekend with BBQ from the Dove's Nest Smokehouse.

Friday night Caroline surprised me for my birthday with the most beautiful cake and sweets, I was so shocked nd touched I actually cried! Thank you Caroline you are the best and such a dear friend.

Cloth flowers made by Katie Watson with Maya Road mist...too cute!

Yummy Maya Road mist, you can always find every color at the store!

Everyone enjoying the classes!

What a great group of ladies to work with, thank you for all each of you did!

Receipt Holder

I'm sure you have seen these at the store and thought they were really cool. I know I did. I had to have it! Of course, I wanted it covered in paper. So I figured out a way to do it that was easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!

The secret to how it was covered is over on my blog. I loved altering this so much I made one for my classroom at school as well.

Now for some fun. I love playing with Maya Road goodies. So leave a comment here with all the Maya Goodies you think were used in this project and next Monday, Sam will have a drawing for a little gift certificate to The Crafty Scrapper from me to you.

It's That Time of Year!

Next week we will have a booth at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington. We have been busy ordering and preparing samples to show you! Some of the lines may be familiar to you if you shop at our store. But even for you frequent shoppers, we will have some NEW items. This is our fifth year at the convention and each year we search for some fun things to bring.

Our store is only about 30 minutes from the convention center in Arlington, so if you are visiting the convention and haven't been to the store, we hope you will add it to your sightseeing while you are in the area. Directions are here.

We have teamed up with Ten Seconds Studios for some classes at the convention too. We have four full classes and have worked to get the kits completed for all of those too.

On Friday evening, Sally Lynn MacDonald is teaching a class at the store. She is doing some classes at the convention too, so we were lucky to get her for a special class here.

It is sure to be a busy time. We are hoping to see you in the hustle of the event, whether at the booth, in class or at the store!

PS: We have a facebook page and post frequently out there about the activities at the shop, so check us out there too.

Beach Book

A couple of us have had some fun with this new album from Maya Road. This is one of the completed albums. It is a beach theme, but perhaps isn't one you have seen before. The wavy book brought beach to mind and these papers were just so pretty-I had to use them!

We used the Anna Griffin Calypso paper along with some of the Inspired Traveler line. Embellishments include real seashells and Mudd Puddles. The Mudd Puddles are fun to play with. It is a sand and adhesive mixture. It dries pretty quick and is a nice texture when dry.

The flowers & button centers on the front are from Bazzill. We also used some of the little Kraft tickets and ruffled ribbon from Maya Road to trim things out.

Isn't it fun to play with texture combinations?
